Another year and then some
time has gotten away from me. We have moved to a new location. We are expecting our 1st grandchild. We have witnessed the graduation of a daughter with her masters degree. We are about to participate in the marriage of the youngest son. We have enjoyed the company of our grown son who keeps us smiling. We have lost a job and searched for a new one. That about sums up the year. Hope I post more before another year is over!

New beginnings and fond farewells

Today has been a year. I was not sure if I would ever survive that year with my heart intact.
I hung up the phone, having just talked to my mother. She was not feeling her best and I admonished her to tell the doctor that he needed to find out what the problem was. She assured me that she would.
"Now Mother, you know what you need to do."
"Yes, JoAnn."
" I love you, Mom."
An hour latter I received the news that she was gone. She had known for a while what she needed to do. It was time for her to move on. She, in her patient wisdom, was waiting for me to tell her that it was OK.
That was a year ago today, April 28th.
I talked to my father today. He is 84. He loves online banking, but that is about as far as his online interests go. He came home from visiting his ailing sister (90 years old) and his brother (87 years) to find that his home phone was not working. He fiddled with the cords and wires and soon things were back online. His phone began to speak to him...
"To listen to your messages, press...." and so on. He usually just hangs up, the original problem of the phone not working having been solved, but this time he pushed a number. What he got was a surprise and a blessing. A message, left over a year ago by my mother! He had longed many times to hear her voice over the past year, and now, a year to the day of her passing, her voice reassuring him, and me, that all was well.
Many things have transpired in the past year: My oldest son married. My youngest son about to graduate high school. My middle son, with a clean bill of health after his brain surgery, about to start college. And my daughter in her second year of graduate school has been offered an internship. Many blessings I have been given.
The choice to start this blog is in honor of my mother. This will be a place for me to share with you the blessings this life has given me, and things I enjoy. Through sharing, I hope you will be able to see the blessing in your life as well.
May the Lord bless and protect you.
